Jatropha berlandieri & Jatropha mcvaughii are members of the Euphorbiaceae family. Berlandieri is aka Jatropha Buddah Belly, Baseball Plant. Jatropha berlandieris origin is Texas, Mexico and Central America. Grows scattered among the brush mainly on clay soil in hot, arid regions. This is a caudiciform plant adapted to prolonged periods of drought it can store water and survive many months without rain. Jatropha mcvaughii is from Mexico. Both are spring summer growers going dormant fall/winter with no leaves. | |
